Hi,
We have applied for Canadian citizenship end of November 2019, and current status (as of April 15) is "In Process" and has been such since Feb 24. Our PR cards are expiring in September. We are currently on maternity leave outside Canada, and we were not planning to go back to Canada until our citizenship exam date which we were hoping would be happening this summer and that we might get our citizenship before our PR cards expire.
We were originally planning to do a bit of traveling and to visit family from my spouse and from me (who live in different countries) and we sublet our place in Canada for all of this year. The plans have changed a lot with everything that's going on with the corona virus. Currently we are in USA, close to Canada, and planning to go to Mexico when things calm down a bit more. We are wondering if we should just go ahead and renew our PRs (looks like processing times are a month) before we go to Mexico since we are so close.
Any thoughts?
By the way, going back to Canada and waiting things out there is not a good option for us at this time for financial reasons.

thanks!
