Hi,
I have a question.we have moved and we forgot to change the address on cic , after about a month when i checked the status online and clicked to change the address ,it says ' we do not have your mailing address on file" ,so i changed the address.I was just wondering ,why they did not have the mailing address as when i filled the application mailing and residential address was the same and i also got the confirmation letter on the same address.why did the application say'they did not have the mailing address ??? :'(
how long ll it take to update the address ??

Hi Moti,

First of all stop wasting time over what is gone and call CIC Call center 1-888-242‑2100 to find the update on your case. You can always talk to someone over there and make sure that they have all your current info including your phone #, email and mailing address. The call center reps are very nice and will try to help you as much as possible. Never get angry on the phone and send an email to question@cic.gc.ca as they will answer case specific updates if you email them with all your personal info which you use to check your online case status. A friendly suggestion is keep in touch with the CIC call center every month so if there are any issues you know them right away and don't waste time.

The reps do have a way to contact the officer but they can only contact if the time period is over and if you are nice and understanding as well as your file is complete from your end.

So Good Luck and keep trying :)

Thanks Rosebud,

I applied in June 2012 and received acknowledgment and book in july 2012.
I email them as per your advice, do you know how much time they will take to reply?

Hi,

I am happy that I can be of some help. I am providing you the link for the answers you are looking for http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/help.asp. This link has details related to emailing and getting response and which type of questions/ inquiries do they reply.

I have also requested for my update and will see what the response is as my case fits to the criteria.

Hope it works for you too :)

Good Luck ;)
