Hi All

I am applying for citizenship as I have completed 1095 days. I spent more than 183 days outside Canada after becoming PR.

Do I need to fill in Form CIT 0177 as 9 C of Form CIT 002 says if during eligibility period if you were outside Canada please complete and submit residence outside of Canada form

When I opened this form it said it is for workers who were crown servants and were PR or whose Spouse was a PR while working abroad.as a crown servant .Neither of these conditions apply to me

It really depends on whether you "lived" outside Canada or not.
If you've spent 2 months of holidays outside the country every year, then you probably have to select no for question 9c, and you're good.
If, say, you've worked somewhere else for 6 months then you need to select yes. In that case, just fill not applicable everywhere in form 0177 to ensure your application is complete.

Thanks for the reply/ I had stayed outside Canada, in my home country, for 16 months after getting PR so should I answer 9C in yes or no. I did not work for as a crown servant nor did my spouse.

Immigration lawyers advised their clients (in similar situation as yours) to answer 'Yes' to the question, and fill out "N/A" on the crown servant form. In additon, you could also attach a cover letter explaining that you were not a crown servant and do not want to use time spent outside Canada towards satisfying your physical presence.

Note, if you answer 'Yes' and not attach the crown servant form, your application has a very high chance of being returned.

Hi All

My PR card is expiring in June 2018. I would be applying for citizenship in feb 2018.Do I need to get my PR card renewed or let them expire. If I get citizenship before June 2018 then I do not need PR card but if if i get citizenship after June 2018 then what happens.

I am also applying for citizenship for my minor son along with me .His passport from back home would expire in June 2018.Should i get his passport renewed. he has no plans to travel outside Canada.

Don't need to renew your PR card for Citizenship, you can take oath with an expired PR card. However, if you wish to travel outside Canada, then you do need a valid PR card.
