i have filed the taxes for year 2019, 20, 21. so I checked YES in TAXES FILED PART for these 3 years. On the left column REQUIRED TO FILE, I checked NO for all 5 years starting from 2017 to 2021.
Is this correct?

Yes. I had T4s and I have already filed my taxes for last 3 yrs.
But what I dont understand is to that do I have to check in REQUIRED TO FILE also or just checking FILED TAXES is enough for past 3 yrs.
Confused between these 2 options.

You need to provide the consent for IRCC to access your CRA records for the eligibility period
So if you select No under Required to File taxes for these 5 years and IRCC figures out that T4's were issued for these years, then it will be an issue.. Don't you think ?
Thank you for clarification.
Quick question please.
I became PR in 2019...so I will check yes in 2019 to 2021 but do I have to still check yes for 2017 and 2018 as I was not here in Canada?
Thank you for clarification.

If you were NOT a resident of Canada and had no income in Canada (no T4 slips in my CRA account) for years 2017 and 2018, you can check "NO" for "REQUIRED TO FILE" and "TAXES FILED"
However, if you WERE a resident of Canada and had no income in Canada (no T4 slips in my CRA account) for years 2017 and 2018, it is still a good idea to file returns with zero income and if you are eligible for GST credits, TFSA contribution room, it will be reflected on your Notice of Assessment (NOA). However, you can still check "NO" for "REQUIRED TO FILE" and "TAXES FILED" if you have not filed them.
