this is from a notice that was posted today: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/department/media/notices/2016-06-22.asp

For approximately six weeks, starting the week of May 9, 2016, additional dedicated staff joined employees and partner organizations already working in the Middle East to process these applications. After this “blitz” period, mission staff in the Middle East will continue to process private sponsorship applications and finalize cases when ready.

By June 20, nearly 6,100 interviews of privately sponsored refugees have been completed. These refugees will continue through the screening process overseas, which includes full health and security screening. It will take approximately three to six months from the interview for refugees to complete the rest of the process and arrive in Canada. Some families are already arriving and others will continue to arrive over the coming months.

another possible reason as to why some of the overseas VOs (namely LVO) have been so quiet since may. god damn 6100 interviews within six weeks. mccallum was asked exactly how many staff were reassigned, but he dodged that question saying he didn't have an official figure at the time. the reason they sent them back is because there was an "uproar" amongst private refugee sponsors when the government announced they were closing down the temporary refugee processing centers after having achieved their goal of 25k.

all staff that were temporarily reassigned are supposedly back at their permanent posts in their respective VOs. let's see where things take us from here...

Our wives are not at risk of losing their lives , Syrian refugees are . lengthy sponsorship processing times been there long before the refugee crisis stated .

not really. would you care to do a bit of research into exactly how many of mccallum's syrian refugees are from the refugee camps they've been showing us in the news? you'd be surprised.

Exactly...when I first heard about the Syrian Refugees it didn't make any sense cause they said they had done interviews....checked backgrounds....I questioned the fact that there are 410k people waiting to get into Canada how could 25K jump the line?...then I read interviews with the refugees...some of them have been out of Syria for 10 years, living, working and doing well in different parts of Europe...many of them have family here already and had sponsored these refugees years ago...thats how it was so easy for them to get into Canada...again they media is just showing the story that will sell the most...

This is tragic!

I recall that Minister McCallum clearly said on interview with CBC's Rosemary Barton that the refugee program will NOT affect other application streams. Clearly that is not the case and we are being sacrificed.

This is happening because there are lobby groups representing Syrian Refugees, who have good visibility with the media, and guess what - the gov't listens to the media. Most of us, including spousal applicants, have no such representation. I urge you all to write to the major media outlets. I've been sending emails to the following. Some of them actually wrote back to ask about my story!

rosemary.barton@cbc.ca

letters@montrealgazette.com
scoop@huffingtonpost.com

Lets get to work guys. Make yourself be heard!

i don't want this to turn into another shouting match. i am going to try and get in touch with the media as per s.and.s' suggestion, but the thing is that we've already lost six weeks because of this and nothing is going to bring that back. my wife could've been with me by august if mccallum hadn't sent the visa officers back to the middle east, but that probably isn't going to happen now.

according to this notice, the visa officers have returned (or are returning) to their permanent posts, and all i want now is for them to start working on our applications so we can be together with our spouses again.

I'm curious why you think you have a right to set CIC's staffing priorities? I never hear people complaining about the relative weight of the experience class, the family class, or the other various departments -- why does it always come up with refugees?

I understand, flx2015, but I still do feel we need to make some noise. What worries me is IRCC's new fast-tracking policy, which is being instituted to help 'straightforward' cases get through the system quicker. From what I've observed, applicants from mainly first-world, visa-exempt countries are benefiting from this most (ref: forwarding of files to CPC-Ottawa).

The officers may be returning, but who's files are they going to be processing next? IRCC only seems to be doing what's needed to make their numbers look nice. I took a backseat for far too long, satisfied that the Trudeau government was going to fix things. I was wrong; it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

Your exactly right flx2015!! More importantly to me is that my 5 year old daughter who cries every night wanting her new mom with her and hasn't seen her in 9 months is killing me and our family. Yes we have been robbed of 6 weeks so let's all take action on this

i don't think this is the case.

what we're seeing at CPC-Ottawa probably isn't related to the fast-tracking policy CIC outlined on june 13th, because ottawa has been processing applications very quickly since the start of this year. secondly, we still have visa-exempt applicants from europe who are still being forwarded to london.

The refugees that have come to Canada are not coming from camps...their lives are not in danger...the have been living well in other countries...the idea the press has shown is that these are desperate people...on the verg of being killed and its not the truth...they are part of the 410K waiting...Because there is political gain these people got to jump the que...there are refugees that truly are in situation , like the people from Sri Lanka, the Tamil refugees...

I think none of us is against the refugees, personally I am grateful to what Canada offers and I wish I could help. I am not asking to stop bringing the refugees here but....It sounds weird but the only thing we want is to be treated like those refugees....I means who doesn't want his application be finalized under 3 months?
