Hello All,

We submitted our app in May and was approved within 3 weeks. Now we're waiting for Part 2 of the process. My wife received a letter today from CIC stating:

"PA-CDA PR status: Recd confirmation from CIC that Principal Applicant in Canada was granted Permanent Residence. A search has demonstrated that you once received a permanent residence status in Canada. In order to continue with the processing of your application, we need you to seek a determination of status by first submitting an Application for a Travel Document (Permanent Resident Abroad) (IMM 5524E). You may find the application on this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp

Once assessed, if it is determined that you are no longer a PR, you will receive a letter stating so. At that time, you can send us the letter and we will continue with the processing of your sponsorship (FC1) application. "

Can anyone shed some light on this? we already given details as to when she moved and provided all the documents such as old SIN card etc.

Also because CIC sent this letter, can we assume that our app is currently under review and we should hear back from them shortly given that we submit the letter back to them??

Thank you!

You must do what they have asked. Apply for the Travel Document. Nothing will proceed on your application until you do.
