I hope this part is really true after the new regulations that were implemented on September 30th.

"Highlights of the 2011 immigration plan include a higher range of admissions for spouses and children in the family category."

Having read what it says in the actual plan versus the news release, I think that they have forecast that there will be more family sponsorship applications therefore they estimate more people will be admitted. I don't think it means they will be admitting a relatively higher percentage of applicants although that is the spin they give it in the news release.

i would like to forward this to my visa office...just in case they didnt get the memo! :P

maybe I'm just being cynical but I hope this doesn't mean they'll hold a bunch of the applications up until January to give them a nice boost on numbers for their 2011 goal!

Its nice to see a step in the right direction in regards to reuniting spouses. I just hope the percentage increase is allocated fairly between all countries, as opposed to realizing additional gains from countries that are processing fast, with large quantities of applications completed each year.

Just my opininion and hopes.

It is a "fluff" statement, as there is no quota on spouses or dependent children, all that qualify are processed now. So if CIC/CHC is processing all the spousal applications received, how would then process any more?

I rather agree, especially seeing as CIC recently updated its timeline page and the processing times for spousal sponsorships has increased for all offices, and instead of showing percentages of cases processed over time, they are showing one big time span for all cases!
