I was just wondering what the procedure is if CIC decides to return the entire application package. Would they send an e-mail or letter to let the sponsor know they are returning the package, or would they just mail it to the mailing address that was used on the IMM forms?

This hasn't happened to me, and I really hope it doesn't, but it's getting close to my approval date and I was just worrying that they may have returned the package without telling me...and it may have been lost or something. I'm in a major Chinese city, but still, the mail system here is not that reliable...

Anyone have experience with the above?

Thanks,

FS

They just mail it back with a letter. No email or anything. But don't worry, they will NOT be sending it back! This wait is stressful, you'll be so relieved once you get approval.

The few cases that I have seen on the board where members reported their total file being sent back were received within a 2-3 weeks timeframe.
From what I've read, they need a minimum to open a case. If the minimum requirements are met, then they will open the case, and will ask for missing documents (if any) at a later time. However, if the minimum requirements aren't met, then they will be unable to open a case and will send the whole package back for correction.

Take a look at
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf

page 15, Tables 10, and 11. It seems to be the initial check that will do to determine whether or not to accept the package.

FS, how long does it take for the mail from Canada to reach where you are?

When I received mail from the Canada Revenue Agency, it took less than a month...probably about 2-3 weeks...

I guess I am safe from having my package returned, but I was more curious to know if they would send an e-mail at the time they send it back...just to let you know that it's on its way back....

I'm doubting they would email for that. You're safe FS, pretty sure you would have gotten it back if there was a problem! :)

I'm with you on the worrying though!

They returned my application in the mail without sending out an email to inform me that they were returning the application. However, they did include a letter (with my returned application) stating the reason why the apllication was returned and they also requested additional documents. Luckily, I did not lose my place in the queue when I sent it back.

There is a member in our Jamaica forum that had hers returned. I don't remember why. But, they did return it with the UCI # and she did not lose her place in queue either...

That's good to know they didn't lose their place in line. I hope mine doesn't get sent back...you don't have anything to worry about Fencesitter. I finally reached an agent to speak to when I called them the other day and the agent said that they do accept applications that didn't fill out the generic application and sponsorship form electronically and validated. He said it's recommended but not mandatory and it will only be a few days delay for them to enter it in the computer. He said they will email me or send a letter to my address if they need me to send anything after I asked him. I guess you can always check your status online w/your reciept number to see if there is any updates. So I hope it is true that it was ok that I didn't validate.

Hello everyone!

My application was filed last April 17 and the whole package was returned back to my husband thru snail with a letter from CPC attached with it. It was stated that I need to use forms that are validated which I did and then I send it to my husband so he could send it back to them. My question is do we need to attach the said letter so CPC may know that its the second time we send the application?

Thanks!

Seriously? He is stressed enough already. There is a very tiny LITTLE chance of that happening. Don't tell people that!

loooool a picture does say 1000 words ;)

FS don't stress too much; u pass the 30 days mark, u will b almost 60 days mark soon so i doubt they return anything; what i read from others if they do return everything it happens in the 1st month; ur file is just where it's supposed to be: in some long queue or under many other files imagine it as u like ;)
