Hi All,
I am in the final stages of immigration to Canada. I passed my interview and received my request for medicals last April. My medicals were completed April 10, 2014.
I have now just received a request for a new police certificate as well as new medicals due to their upcoming expiration.
My question is are they really able to ask you to complete your medicals twice? They are very expensive (about $400) to have done.
I have completed every step of this process well in advance of the deadlines set for me by the immigration office, so I don't understand how this is my fault. There is a backlog at the Ottawa CIC office which is why the medicals expired.
Has anyone had any luck requesting an extension of the validity of the medicals? I just don't understand how it is right to ask people to re-do medicals when the only reason they expired is due to the government delays that are not the fault of the applicant. The processing times are the culprit in this case.
I am kind of missing the point of why they asked me to complete the medicals by April of last year if they were going to expire and need to be redone. Why not just wait until this point of the process closer to landing?
Thanks all for your input!
