Like I already posted, it varies. That average is just a rough estimate, many people get it faster.

Thanks. I just am concerned after seeing that processing times significantly increased. All along it may have been 7ish months or 9ish months, but I am wondering if it's now a given that we will have to wait longer after the change.

Expect 8-10 months for an Outland sponsorship via the Ottawa offices. The 17 months is averages 80 percent pf the applications that are processed in Ottawa are processed within 1 year granted there are no red flags security or medical issues with the file if there are expect the full 17 months.

I have seen no issues and taking 19 months...I know reading these site I figured it would be 7 to 9 months pretty much had moving company booked etc cause we have rehab and a TRP...never in a million years did I think no one would touch the case for 9 months...and by no means did I think for one second there would be a third request for medical only to find out the emedical file was and is empty and there are no answer from CIC...So my advise....plan on the 17 months and hope for sooner!...Our application was Rec'd in Apr 2014...pretty sure they are going to use the 27 month time frame (LA)on our case to help support their stats!!!...

May 2014 inland applicant, my sponsor was approved yesterday 17 months for stage one...

Yup, they seem to be pretty consistent with the first stage approval for inland. You can always withdraw your application and apply outland.

Not all VOs are the same, but this once again shows the advantage of applying outland.

I am Canadian Citizen sponsoring my wife from IRAQ (OUTLAND), CIC in Missusiga received my sponsorship application on 16-10-2015, in ECAS updated (we started processing your sponsorship on 23-Oct-2015, then few days later I got approval to be sponsor via email on 27-Oct-2015 and they sent the application for PR to Amman office, this regarding sponsor application

now I am checking online regarding my wife PR application, in ECAS I found , We received your wife application for PR on 16-Oct-2015, then few days later I found another statement saying , we started processing your wife PR application on 10-Nov-2015.

guys what that mean when they are saying , we are processing after the first statement saying we received in ECAS, is that mean , they really open the file and processing started?
another thing I believe the approval for sponsoring wife taking 2 month previously but in my case takes just 10 days or less, does this mean they speed up the process?

Yes , The process for your case was sped up.
I have heard from a reliable source that recently, CIC intentionally speeds up applications from Iraq & Syria. Probably coz they want to help with the recent migrant situation.
