Hi,

Me and my spouse passports have been submitted to the Canadian embassy for PR visa and my wife is expecting. Its her 8th week into pregnancy and we intend to give landing in May'15 which will be her 5th odd month. Wanted to know the policy of Child Birth and Medical coverage for pregnancy in Toronto?

1. When will I be eligible to avail medical benefits in Toronto?
2. Can I avail interim medical insurance for pregnancy related expenditures if medical coverage takes few months to commence?
3. How long after birth can we travel back to our home country after child birth?
4. How long does it take to receive the passport of my new born?

1. There is a 90 day waiting period on arrival.
2. You will need to consult insurance companies: many exclude pregnancy related expenses ("pre-existing" condition).

4. Varies: (10 days - 3 weeks + for a Canadian one)
