CIC calling employer?

What is the probability that the CIC in Buffalo will call my employer to verify my employment? I sent my documents to Buffalo. I sent employment letter, payslips, W2. However, I do not want the company to know I am planning to move to Canada. They are laying off people and if they know I will leave anyhow, why do not get rid of me now knowing that I will leave anyhow!
