I'm applying for permanent residency with my wife as the secondary applicant. She used to live in the Netherlands. The CIC have asked ME for my police record from the Netherlands, when they should have asked HER for this; I have only been to Holland for a few days.

Unlike the UK, Holland won't provide the police certificate unless they receive "(t)he official letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada requesting a police certificate". Because the CIC have addressed their request to me, rather than to my wife, we can't use this as a formal request!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They did similar silliness for me. My wife and me need a letter to get Singapore police cert. They sent a letter with my wife and my 5 year old son's! name in it.

Since I am not in Canada, all I can do is raise a CSE and wait for them to correct it. It has been over a week and I am still waiting.

If you figure out a quicker way do let me know.

Do all u can do at the same time.
- Call them
- Email them
- raise CSE

It will be notified.

Not saying you can't read. Just want you try double check the letter again. Cos in my case, the RCMP letter was in my name being the primary applicant but in the body of the letter only my wife's UCI's number was indicated.
Hope yours wasn't like that? If yes, then it's not an error.
Any letter written to a dependent on an application will primarily be addressed to the primary applicant.

Thanks for the responses guys,

As Canada_Eagle mentioned, it's not possible to call from outside of Canada, but we've submitted a Case Specific Enquiry (CSE) and will cross our fingers.

Canada_Eagle - it would be good to know how you get on. I'll provide an update once I hear back.

I also dropped them a email at cpc-ctd-ottawa@cic.gc.ca over the weekend. Hopefully that will kick them into action

It is possible to call.

Call +16139444000. There is an option to Immigration which will reroute you to CIC.

I called once using Google's hangouts and it was free. However the first time I waited for 55 minutes on hold. All attempts made more recently were unsuccessful, so many callers you don't even get to be placed on hold.

Finally got the response back from the CIC. They have sent the document in the correct name and refreshed the 60 days to complete.

Thanks for everyone's help.
