Others can comment as well but they could do only CIC will know if they would do so or not possibly indirectly and unlikely to publish in detail what background checks they do thus keeping people honest to a degree. Much same as employer checks, will they contact will they not contact, it is that possibility whether they do or not that hopefully keeps people honest in their applications.
Of course Important to remember to stay honest in any application given misrepresentation if found out is a big penalty to pay against any future.
