Leading candidates for promotion include Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, 45, who has helped boost Conservative support among ethnic communities, and Heritage Minister James Moore, 37.

Re: Can we see a new immigration minister

Re: Can we see a new immigration minister

Re: Can we see a new immigration minister

Hoping and praying that this change is for the better!

Any clue abt this guy - looks young

The first thing I have learned about the new minister Chris Alexander is he has a wife and 2 children... for me that is a plus points... Hoping that he knows what FAMILY REUNIFICATION really means... unlike Kenney that is single... booohooo! :)

Chris Alexander isnt really well liked either, its like exchanging the pitt bull for a rottweiler

He has worked in Russia and Afghanistan himself as a foreign worker and previously received an award from PAFSO, the union that is currently on strike in most of the visa offices abroad. He has a wife and 2 kids and his riding is East of Toronto in Durham region.

It will be hard to tell if the change is for better or for worse, let's hope and pray it is for better. The Immigration portfolio is pretty high profile so we will hear lots from the media in the coming days I imagine. As well as some of the more political folks on this forum.

Of course now he can stall for a while saying he is new to the position, needs time to settle in and learn about the problems, start a study, etc. I doubt much will change.

Please tweet him to take action

If his riding is in Toronto area, I have no hope. I find that politicians who come from that area are generally arrogant and/or ignorant :( (More so than others, although ALL politicians are arrogant and ignorant)

Not necessarily. He did live and work somewhere else, but doesn't mean he actually knows the process and how much of a strain it is.

If you mean immigrants in Toronto, again, not necessarily. My cousins live in Toronto and have yet to come across an immigrant, and one of them works for The Score.
