Hi guys,

My parents they got multiple 10 years Visitor visa (6 months per entry) last year and they got Super visa this year, the visa officer did not cross out their regular visitor visa on their passport so they got 2 types of visa on the passport. Can my parents chose which visa to use when entering Canada at the airport or the super visa will be automatically applied in this case?

Thanks for reading :)

Others can comment as well but cannot choose which visa to use on arrival. If the super visa was issued after the TRV then is likely that is the one that will gain them entry.

Also what would be your thinking about needing to chose anyway given a super visa is a better option for parents than a TRV.

As my parents are planning to stay for about 2 months only and I already bought the super visa medical insurance for them already, by using TRV to enter Canada, then they do not need to use the insurance, I can postpone the insurance effective day until next year when they will stay in Canada for about 2 years, that why I want to use the TRV for this time only.

Its most likely that CBSA officers will allow them entry using their Super Visa so they will need to see valid medical insurance at port of entry.

Your parents cannot hold two valid visas simultaneously. You can be pretty certain that their TRVs were cancelled in the IRCC system when the super visas were issued.

Their future entries will be on the super visas + they must bring documents for super visa entries (medical insurance, for example)
