Hi there!

I have been reading about Chinese Police Checks in this forum, but still couldn't get a clear answer. I'm German and lived in Qingdao for a year and will need a Chinese Police Check. Does anyone have experience with actually getting the police check or instead giving a statement to CIC saying that you were unable to get one?

All I have been reading about didn't answer these questions. Your help is much appreciated!!

Thank you!

My husband provided a letter rather than submitting one of his PCCs (Kuwait) and it was accepted. In his case it was in literally impossible to obtain the PCC since all of the records from that time period were destroyed in the war (he worked there for a year and a half just before the war). We provided a number of emails from various embassies / consulates to prove it was impossible.

There are services online that might be able to help get you a police clearance without having to go to China yourself. I used beijingesc.com myself, though I think that's for Beijing in particular. There are a number of websites offering such services, so it's probably a matter of finding one that serves Qingdao.

Considering it's just getting a piece of paper, the service isn't cheap (but still much cheaper than flying back to China) and I was asked to transfer via Western Union (which is an automatic red flag) but I did get the document as promised.

Good luck!
