Children Information, 3901 and Re-establishment Letter

Hi all,

One quick question about children - my sponsor and I have a baby daughter who has received her Canadian citizenship certificate. We list her in a few forms that require us to list our kids but form 3901 question 8 says to provide information re: children and then basically only talks of adopted kids etc. My question is - where do we place copies of our daughter's birth certificate (where we are listed as parents) and her Canadian citizenship certificate, in the Principal Applicants application (that would be 3901, item 8) or in the Sponsor's application? Do I tick item 8 on the 3901 checklist even though it only mentions adopted children, children from past marriages and older dependents?

Also just wanted to run by you our plans to reestablish in Canada, if anyone can spot any red flags:

We have two letters from friends and family in Canada offerring us accommodation upon arrival

We have letters from family and friends saying that they are aware of our desire to move to Canada

My wife (sponsor) has attached three job searches for jobs in Toronto as well as her CV and an explanation of how she hopes to combine her 'Canada experience' and her experience gained outside Canada once back there

Her email requesting to renew her membership in OACCPP

Used car search, with budget

Apartment for rent search, with budget

Proof of savings (are simple bank statements enough, just showing the amount deposited and name of account holders)

Short paragraph on my (principal applicant) plans in Canada (strong CV, desire to volunteer in case I don't find work, willingness to study at Canadian Uni to improve my credentials)

We also stated that due to her pregnancy being high risk and the baby still breastfeeding, she has been unable to go to Canada to set things up (renew SIN, find out more about private health insurance for when arrive, renew her Canadian Trust account and transfer savings etc.)

It is hard to provide proof for something that is still more than a year away due to the length of the process so please do let me know if there are any 'red flags' here or whether there are some key notes we are not hitting when it comes to re-establishment.

Thanks in advance, this forum is pure gold.

I can't tell you anything about form 3901, but I can tell you about our experience regarding proof of re-establishment. My husband and I provided less proof than that (just a letter from my mother in law specifying that she knows about our plans of moving there and a letter from my husband - the sponsor - detailing his reasons for moving and our plans regarding jobs, housing, etc.) Note that he's been living outside Canada since 2007.

We had more documents ready, in case they would ask for more proof (email requesting info about his driver's licence, letter from current employer stating that my husband informed him about his move to Canada and emails showing he's been in contact with job recruitment agencies). But they never asked for additional documents. We got approved just last week.

I think you should be fine with the proof you have, but I have to say it also depends on the officer handling your case. It is hard to find a job in Canada when you are abroad and not knowing when you'll be able to move there, makes it almost impossible. I believe the VO knows that too. I think having a good re-establishment plan for when you get there plays a big role in this situation.

I don't know if this had any weight with the visa officer, but my husband and I have been married for almost 6 years and since the wedding day we've never been apart for more than a week. It would be crazy to think I will go to Canada without him.

Thanks a lot. We are the same (living together 7 years, married 4 years, one baby daughter), never been apart ofr more than a couple of days since 2007 so I guess no need to worry about that side of things

3901 is that checklist that covers certain regions - I just had a look at 3902 as for some reason your country and my country fall into different groups despite bordering each other and it also has question 8 about Children's Information and also seems to only talk about adopted children, children of divorced parents etc. My question is if not here, then were do I attach our daughter's birth certificate and Canadian citizenship certificate, with my papers or my wife's (sponsors) papers?

I also used form 3901, because I am a resident of Germany and I went through Vienna VO (not Bucharest). I think you should include your child's documents with your papers, because she is a dependent of the principal applicant (you) and you must prove that she doesn't need to be sponsored like you. Since she is a Canadian citizen, she has the right to enter Canada.
