Hello Everyone!
Got a question about obtaining child citizenship. My non Canadian wife will deliver our baby end of December in Hong Kong. I plan to move them back to Canada with them 6 months after our child is born. I understand that my child will hold Canadian citizenship once born but I would have to sponsor my wife in order for her to obtain Permanent Residency. I plan to move back with them to Canada for good. I am just not sure what's the best method to move back with them. My parent told me that both my child and my wife should travel to Canada as visitors holding HKSAR passport. And after they landed in Canada, I can apply for them to become Canadian citizen. The reason for applying them inside Canada is because I do not want to separate with them. If I were to apply them outside Canada, the Permanent Residency application would take at least 18 months to complete. Here are my quesitons:
1) Will my above method works? Anyone tried similar process?
2) Is it really faster to apply them inside Canada as compare to outside Canada?
3) Any special requirement or documents I need to fill after my child is born for him to become a Canadian Citizen?
Appreciate your input and feedback!
Thank you very much!
