Hello everyone,
My husband and I travelled to Canada to activate our PR in November. We are planning to a baby and have a few questions:
1. If the child is born in India, how can we take him to Canada?
2. Will he travel on TRV or TPR visa? Are these easy to obtain?
3. If we have to sponsor him, how long will it take ? Can we sponsor him immediately after reaching Canada?
4. Are there any minimum income requirement slab for sponsoring the child?
5. If the baby is born in Canada, will he be PR or Canadian citizen?

Thanks in advance.

1. TRV/TRP
2. Not easy to get TRV/TRP
3. 8-12 months. One of the parents has to be in Canada for that duration. Short trip outside are OK.
4. No minimum income requirement.
5. Canadian citizen.

Do bear in mind if you are planning to travel back to have the child in Canada, that depending on what province you are planning top settle in, you may or may NOT be covered by provincial healthcare (e.g. Ontario has a 3 month wait period from when you settled, not from when you landed to activate PR). You could therefore be liable for the full cost of childbirth (think $10,000 plus depending on how you go about it and what you need).

Also that there are residency requirements to qualify for healthcare so you are looking at a minimum of 6 months if not more in Canada. You also need to show you can support yourselves financially. without government help.
