Child born in USA after completion of landing formalities

Hello,

I searched through the forum and I couldn't find a relevant post for my case. I hope someone can help me out here.

We (I, my wife, my first child) landed in Canada 2 years ago and got our PR cards. We went to the US to finish my work formalities and we had a second child in the meanwhile. As my return to Canada was not sure, I did not apply for my 2nd child's PR since there is no entry visa for US citizens and my attorney told me I could apply for a PR even after returning here.

We finally moved to Canada 3 months ago, and I need to apply for my child's PR now.

I am following the instructions here, and downloaded the documents.

CIC's website /english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives (didn't let me post links)

Is that the right set of documents? Has anyone else been in my situation and successfully applied for their foreign born child's PR? Any help with the process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi

The application can be found here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp.

It's a fairly straightforward situation and you should have no issues. Follow the guides and checklists. Make sure to maintain your child's visitor status during the application process.

Thank you very much! This does look straightforward. I will start filling them in now.

a few questions based on the checklist alone

1) I moved to Canada 3 months ago - I have been employed for those 3 years. Are the last 3 months' paystubs enough as proof of income? Should I also submit my US tax return and paystubs?

2) I haven't moved my US funds to Canada yet, will that be an impediment?

3) Do I have to show funds like when I did for my PR application?

4) Should my 18 month old child be the principal applicant? (sorry if this is a stupid question)

1. You can include your payslips and your US tax return.

2. No, it will have no effect.

3. There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor your child. You just need to prove you can support your family in Canada, which you can show with your payslips and any savings/investment statements.
