Hello,
I have a question regarding Child care benefit application form.
Here is my situation.
I came in Canada as a student on Dec 2009. Then after I got PG Work permit in July 2012. After that I applied for PR and got PR status in Sept 2015.
My wife came in Canada as a visitor in Oct 2013. she received her work permit (Spousal work permit based on my PGWP) on Feb 2015. Shen became PR in Sept 2015 with me.
We had baby born in Canada in July 2015.
I have a question regarding application package.
Are we eligible for applying CCTB benefit? Is it make difference if me or my spouse apply for benefit. I am working for Government agency from last 3 years and my wife is home maker. Since my wife never filled for tax as she was on visitor visa last year I doubt she may not be eligible to apply.

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

You are eligible, see http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/cctb/fq_qlfyng-eng.html#q4

4. Can I get the Canada child tax benefit?
To be eligible, you must meet all the following conditions:

you must live with the child, and the child must be under the age of 18;
you must be primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child;
you must be a resident of Canada; and
you or your spouse or common-law partner must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person, or a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month.
So it doesn't matter whether you or your wife apply. Normally they say that the primary caretaker of the child (your wife) should be the one to apply.

You can also get UCCB, see http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/uccb-puge/menu-eng.html
