as proof of funds on landing at the port of entry in canada is it ok if i show the authorities a cheque in my name in canadian dollars from a canadian bank?will that be accounted for as proof of funds at the time of landing?as someone will be sending me a cheque from canada so i may have the requisite proof of funds.

A check alone cannot guarantee funds. Have them converted to a bank draft deposit-able to your account. Consult seniors for this.

Hi,

Cheque is not a good option, the best way is to get a travellers cheques, cash or transfer the funds in one of the canadian bank and show the statement. Like there is HSBC and Scotia bank in which you can open a bank account before landing in Canada.

Cheers
