Hey!

First: We just received my wife's AoR1 today and I wanted to check the status over on the CIC site, since we now have a UCI/application number. (I also need some info off that page for her healthcare application stuff.) I haven't succeeded in logging in, though, and I recall other people saying it was kind of particular about how it wanted you to enter things.

Can anyone give me any tips?

Second: I got laid off on Wednesday without warning (yikes), and so naturally I now need to update the CIC of my job status.

I already know where I need to do this, but I wondered what I should try to provide. I was planning to give them a scan of my ROE (which states that I was laid off) and a copy of my account summaries from the bank (not just printed off my personal online banking), which would show what I've got in terms of assets right now. I was also going to explain my living arrangement and how we're going to get by while I'm looking for more work.

We're living with my parents at the moment, so while I'm looking for work, I don't need to be able to contribute to rent, etc.

Should this be sufficient, or should I provide anything else?

Sometimes it takes a few days before Ecas getting updated. Try to use file # and few variations of your birth country.
As to your work circumstances you are not required and should not notify CIC about you being laid off.

Are you sure? I'm worried. This is the page I was referring to: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

You may use this form if:

- You have submitted an application.
- Your application has exceeded normal processing times. We will not respond if your application is within normal processing times.
- You wish to report important changes, such as a change in address, births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, changes in employment or urgent requests.
I just really don't want to cause a problem by deliberately misleading them or anything.

The link you provided is for communication related to ALL kinds of immigration applications, therefore the generalization of all possible reasons to contact CIC through this link.
You, however, should refer to your sponsorship approval letter and AOR1, does it says anywhere there to contact CIC in case the sponsor loses the job? No it doesn't and you are not hiding anything by not reporting unnecessary information.
Also, for your piece of mind and particular immigration case, in order to sponsor your spouse and/or dependent child you do NOT have to show any minimal income at all.
So cheer up and have a great weekend.

Ah, I see what you mean. And you're correct--the other specifically PR-related pages I've looked at and the letter itself both just list family changes (marriage, etc.), contact info and mailing address changes, lawyer changes, etc.

That's a relief. Thank you for pointing this out.

As long as I'm not going to be considered to have lied to them or withheld information, that's what's important.
