Is there any sort of check list that we could follow in regards to my US born wife applying for PR status in Canada. I am a natural born Canadian that has been in the southern US for 5 years now...and it's time to move back to Ontario. We have one child that was born in the US and we have a good grasp of what would be required for her (Certificate of Citizenship...). Would it also be advise to try and locate a US based Lawyer or a Canadian Lawyer for our assistance?

Start by reading here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp You will need to complete all 3 parts of the application listed there. You would be applying to sponsor your wife for permanent residence (PR) in Canada. She is eligible to become a citizen after she has been a PR for 5 years. Unless your case is complicated, it's not necessary to hire a lawyer. The application is time-consuming but most of us completed the applications by ourselves with no problem. Good luck!

Thank you for the link...we are hoping this will be alot simpler than it was moving to the USA!
