Charged with DUI - already have COPR

I'm seeking help in this forum, so please do not be judgmental:

I applied for CEC in 2014 everything was good, got my COPR in December 2015. However, I was charged with DUI & refusal (both summary offense) early 2015, cic has all the info about this and they withheld my COPR at their office when i tried landing before court date ( I disclosed that I have pending charges) but they'r asking for the court results. Yesterday I was convective for both counts, but my lawyer saying we can appeal the refusal. I'm here legally on post graduate work permit and I just got new job last month. Now cic has put my landing on hold until the court results, which is unfortunately not in my favor. What can I do at this moment? will I be able to renew my work permit or get an open work permit since my PGWP expiring in 5 months. I know what I did doesn't justifies my foolish act but I have a wife and young child who's also accompanying me on my work permit ( spouse on visitor record, child born Canadian). please if you have something positive to say I will appreciate it, otherwise thank you for reading this.

You can't renew or extend your PGWP. You can try applying for a BOWP based on your CEC application (you need to apply before your PGWP expires). I have no idea if the BOWP will be approved or refused given your unique situation.

thank you scylla, when should I apply for BOWP? my current PGWP expires in May 2016. and lets say they approve it, what happen next cic will reject my PR application? or put it in hold until the 5 years pass to clear the record.

If CIC determines you are in fact inadmissible, they will refuse your PR application - they won't put it on hold until the 5 years passes.

You can apply for the BOWP once you have less than four months of validity left on your PGWP.

thanks again, so do you suggest I inform cic about court verdict first, or apply for BOWP since the requirement is to have am AOR or eligibility passed as I read somewhere.

To the best of my knowledge you will have to inform CIC about your court verdict when you apply for the BOWP.

At this point you should really be consulting with a good immigration lawyer who can verify the correct next steps.

The original O/P last posted in 2017. He had posted that he was granted P/R by the CIC using their discretion, but he does not say if he landed due to his inadmissibility, then he fell off the radar
