Chanigng status from worker to visitor

Hi,

i'm on LMIA work permit and it's expiring in August.

However i'm applying another Work permit.

If my work permit application is rejected. Can i still apply for visitor record after ?

Or i should apply for visitor record the same time while i wait for my Work permit apllication ?
