Changing study program after student permit approval

Hi Guys,

Did anybody try changing their study program before entering Canada to study? I know that I must inform IRCC via online portal and submit the necessary documents. However, my understanding in the condition is I have to study first meaning I should finish the 1st semester of the program I initially have chosen and then apply for another study program once I finished the 1st semester of the original program. Or can I just ask request for a study program change in the same school without informing IRCC during the process? How would that affect my PGWP application?

Hello,

There is no consequences changing DLI after approval from outside Canada but it may be advised to do so from within Canada if you don't have cogent reason to give to the CBSA officer at the POE. This is, if they will ask for your reasons.

If you already have a valid offer letter to the other school, you can switch prior before class resumption in the initial DLI.

You don't need to inform IRCC if you're changing program within same school. If you're changing DLI, you will have to notify IRCC by updating your GcKey account with the new DLI number and other requested information.

DLI change or program change won't affect your eligibility for PGWP.

Thanks for the information. However, if we change the program in the same DLI and the length of the program will be from one to 1.5 years, do we have to change the conditions on our study permit and for this do we have to contact IRCC to update or reissue the study permit again.

Hello, I also change my program within the same DLI, academic level, and the same period but the campus address is different. should I need to submit webform and upload the new LOA to IRCC before entering Canada to study?

I took Hvac technology (3 year) program in Humber College but I changed the program to hvac technician (2 year)program. So i am wondering while applying for PGWP, do i need to explain any reason why I change my program
Or there is any way it can affect my application.
