My husband's uncle is staying with us since early February. He is from Greece and has an ETA to be here as a visitor. Since he is unable to return to Greece, he wants to get a work visa. He would be working for my husband's contractor company (my husband is the only worker and owner). I got the IMM5710e form, but can't figure out how to submit it through gckey. When click apply to come to Canada as a worker and go through the questionnaire, it says he isn't eligible so I can't even submit the application.

He doesn't qualify for a work permit at this time.

Your husband would need to obtain an approved LMIA in order for your uncle to qualify to apply for a work permit and be able to legally work in Canada.

The LMIA process is quite involved and typically takes 4-6 months to complete. Your husband will have to start by advertising the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. He would then have to submit the LMIA application for processing along with a $1,000 fee. There are other requirements as well. If you and your husband are serious about pursuing this, suggest you start by reading through the detailed LMIA requirements.

@cmc84 What country is your husband's uncles passport? What qualifications does he have? What is his age?

There are several LMIA-Exempt options to examine before saying that he needs an LMIA, full-stop.
Could you post those please ?
Age requirements, countries ?

I'm thinking in particular Francophone Mobility (C16), IEC Young Professionals is age and quota restricted.

CETA Exemptions are also of consideration, depending upon his actual background. What was he doing prior to arriving?

To say that someone is full-stop not eligible would be silent to the facts of many people's situations.
