Changing program in the same DLI, will there be consequences if my program doesn't match the filed of study on my study permit?

hello, I just got my visa approved but I'm still worrying since I will change my program from an art diploma(2 years) to a CS degree (4 years) in the same DLI as soon as I land in Canada, and I am not sure how should I do this

according to IRCC I don't need to notify them as long as I am not changing DLI, but I also saw someone claiming that they phoned IRCC and the response was that if the field of study on the study permit doesn't match you will need to reapply, and now I am really confused as everyone else says is fine to switch program in the same DLI

will I need to notify IRCC of this as soon as I am in Canada or do I just need to apply for a visa extension right before my study permit expires with the offer letter of the program I am actually attending?

thank you in advance

I would suggest notifying IRCC because you are planning to change programs before even arriving in Canada. Given that you are actually changing to a more advanced program and what I would consider a harder degree I don’t think there should be an issue. Best to advise IRCC and attach your new LOA. Assume you only pursued this change after receiving your study permit approval.
