Quick question,

I'm schedule to take my oath ceremony tomorrow. after i take my citizenship certificate I'm planing to apply my passport, after i get my passport, I'm planning to change my name.Now, re-applying citizenship certificate will i go through same long tough road? or this time the process is much easier?

If I were you, I'd apply for the name change after you get the certificate before applying for the passport UNLESS you have to travel urgently over the next 6 months. It takes about 5-6 months to get a replacement citizenship certificate which is a pain plus depending on where you are 2 months to get the name change legally done. It's a long process but not as long as getting the citizenship itself.

If you are planning on changing your last name because of marriage, you can have your passport to show your marriage name without having to do a legal name change. You must also show your driver license and health card to show marriage name in order to qualify your passport to show marriage name.

How to change names in your passport

You must update either your provincial driver's license (all provinces) or provincial health care card (except residents from AB, MB, NL) before applying for a name change in your Canadian Passport, as one of these documents in your new name must be submitted along with your current passport. Full fees of $120 for a 5 year passport, or $160 for a 10 year passport are payable directly to Passports

New requirements to assume a relationship surname
If you are applying for a new passport in an assumed relationship surname that is different from the name on your birth or citizenship certificate, you must submit one of the following documents, along with your birth or citizenship certificate:

a marriage certificate; or
a common-law relationship certificate; or
a court order (i.e. separation agreement or divorce order/judgement) issued by a court of law in or outside Canada; or
a certificate to dissolve a registered common-law relationship; or
a resumption of surname certificate.

Note that the identity document submitted in support of your passport application, must display the relationship surname you are requesting.

As I bold the line, it says identity document must have the same marriage last name to support your request to have marriage name on passport. In other words, DL and / or health card with marriage name on it. BTW: there is no charge for changing your DL or health card to marriage name.

For driver license and health card last name change, you must follow the provincial requirements to get last name change. Most only require you to show your marriage certificate along with other id documents to change last name. This is not the same as a legal name change.
