Changing jobs within company on work permit

Hi all,
I received an approved work permit based on a positive LMO last week, however a manager in another department recently lost an employee and wants me to fill the role. It would be very similar to what I do now, and should fall under the same NOC code.

I was wondering if anyone had experience in changing jobs within the same company to a role in the same NOC class, and what are the steps for doing so? Would I have to inform CIC? Would a new LMO have to be done? I'm hoping not as this role has to be filled ASAP.

Cheers

Same NOC, Same Company, the work permit you have is fine.

I actually called CIC today and they said I would need a new LMO and Work Permit because the title of my job will change. Now I'm confused. It's definitely similar work though.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. An immigration lawyer that's a friend of a friend said it's possible to get your work permit changed from being applicable to just one job to being applicable to the entire company. Does anyone know anything about this? I find the CIC website terrible to navigate...

The lawyer probably meant location rather than job, i.e. a company has more than one location in a city. Even then, you have to get permission. If your job title AND duties AND/OR salary change, you need a new LMO.

work permit only valid for a specified job and length of time. so if you change your job with same employer and same noc code then still your working condition is change,so in these case you need to notify the hrsdc department and your employer will apply new lmo with new job description. you should notify hrsdc department before you start new job resposibility. one thing is very clear, you got a positive lmo for specified job , hrsdc also uses noc to identify the wages and labour market trends when assessing the job offer.so there is no way to change your job without getting new lmo and work permit, otherwise it will effect on your visa
