Dear friends,

I have got visa for a PG course in a college for Jan 14 intake. If I get an offer from a university in the meantime, is it possible to request the CHC and update that I would like to go to the univ? does it affect my existing visa? and will there be probs at the POE? kindly advise.
Thanks in advance.

thank you very much for the link. it tells that we can change the level/program with the same study permit. But the study permit is stamped at the POE. At the POE, with a 1 year visa which I have for 1 year PG course, will they stamp a 2 year study permit for masters? they will question why I changed the level. I think it is better to contact CHC and take their guidance.

The link i sent is not from my website, but CIC. anyway, study permit is issued at POE and length of permit is based on the program duration. So before landing here, if you seek admission in another college or same college for Masters and if the program duration is 2 years, u will get 2 years permit. usually what people do is, they change the college after landing here just to avoid any hassle at POE. Extending study permit from within Canada isn't that difficult, though it comes with a fee of 150 CAD.

Yes, you can and you should call CIC helpline for your peace of mind.

Hey.. So say if I receive (and have accepted and paid for) admission in 2 colleges, at POE can I mention the name of the college on whose basis permit was granted and then go take a refund and join the other college? Also, if u do know, is getting a refund from Humber easy? Their regulations say there should be extenuating circumstances such as health or death and stuff to get a refund. Is there any chance I'd be able to get my refund just cus I don't want to study there??
