Changing diploma to certificate

Hi, im planning to relocate from AB to NWT, means im transferring school too, however the DLI that i would be transferring does not have the program that im currently taking (2 year hospitality management) i finished my 1st year already and im thinking if it's possible to just change my program to a 1 year certificate in business ad. Will it affect my student visa since i applied for a 2 year program? Or is that even possible? If it is, im also planning to stop for 1 semester since the application to the college im transferring for fall intake is already closed and i can only apply for winter intake which would be on January, i need advise and help on these matter please

So you can change DLI. Go online and make changes (IRCC change DLI). You will be starting over and not get any credit for not finishing program.

When does your permit expire? Are you studying now because you cannot have more than 6 months between studying?

It will expire on july 2025, im on my semester break roght now, and should be starting my 2nd year this sept. Can i apply for leave for 150 days or this semester break will count my leave too?

If starting in September then not an issue. Your first post said January intake. Why are you taking a one year program and moving to NWT?

Coz i only have 2 year student visa to stay here, so if im gonna take another diploma program that would be additional 2 years for me which means extending my visa before july 2025, so i was thinking if taking a 1 year certificate would be okay to complete my 2 year visa. My relatives moved there

That makes no sense. So you didn’t complete your first program? Why would you get two year visa for a one year program?

That's what im asking here, if that's possible. Coz they dont offer the program im currently taking. Im asking if i should just get another program that has another 2 year duration or if i could make it up with the 1 year left of my studies with a 1 year certificate.

If you don’t complete a program, you don’t get credit for it so start from the beginning if you start a new program at another DLI. If asking about transferring credits that is an issue with your school.
