Hi,

Anybody did change his/her condition from wp to study visa.? or from wp to visitor?
..My open work permit and my husbands main wp will expire dec 31 2012. i have applied for CEC in May and have an AEO, couldn't get LMO...I am planning to apply for a study visa while waiting for CIC decision...please share your expereinces. I do not have too much time...I am hesitating.. do not know if I should apply for study or visitor visa???How much money required for both options???Any suggestions would be great...Please help!!!!!!!!

For study visa you need: letter of admission from university/college, proof of funds(tuition and living expenses) for 1 year..that is at least $10,000. If you get the study permit, your spouse will then be eligible for a spousal open work permit.

For visitor visa - you need proof of funds, etc but note that you will not be permitted to work.

what if i have 7000 plus i can provide a letter from a friend who runs a business and willing to sponsor our costs?will that be sufficient?

i have read that my spouse will get the wp only after 6 months..the problem is that his wp will expiry in dec 30 2012...we would like to stay here and change conditions at the same time? we have a baby as well...can we apply for a visitor visa for him at ther same time when applying for a study permit?
what if they reject a study permit?can we still stay in canada and restore our status as a visitor?

thanks

I don't know the answer to your first question.

Yes, you can apply for a visitor visa for him and the baby when you apply for a study permit. This will at least give them legal status(if granted). If the study permit is rejected, you will have 90 days to restore status and you can then apply to change conditions as a visitor.

In the meantime, continue to look for work. Are you able to get a work permit based on your AEO? Just curious, don't know much about the AEO.

Thanks SenoritaBella!

Visitor visa is needed only for my husband as the baby is a Canadian citizen, he has a passport....Lucky him!!!:-)
I will not try to apply with an AEO as I found out that it would be only a waste of time. However, my boss applied for LMO, unfortunately it was rejected....So only chance for us right now is to apply for a study or visitor visa and hope to get the PR soon...
