Changing a Dependent Work Permit to an Independent one

Hi,

My Spouse was in a closed Work permit in Canada for couple of years now. I came in a dependent work permit last year and was able to find me a job with an Employer. If in case, my spouse Closed work Permit is not renewed by the company this year and she has to leave, How can I change my work permit as a independent one? Please let me know the process and immigration Policy.

Your employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA - you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

Thank you My company has applied for my LMIA and they have just received the file number. Hoping to get a Positive LMIA in some time down the road. We calculated our score for Express entry and we have scored 460 points. She is the Primary applicant in the application.

We are caught in a dilema whether to File our application for EE or wait for my LMIA to be processed and then apply for EE keeping myself as Primary Applicant. We thought this because, LMIA will carry 600 points for me and we will easily Qualify.

Can i apply for EE when our application is still in the Pool?
