Hello,

I just submitted the application to sponsor my husband at the beginning of January (2013). A couple of weeks after I had submitted it, I got a job offer that I couldn´t decline. I gave my two weeks notice at the job which I had submitted all of the info for the sponsorship and now I wonder if I need to notify immigration about it. I mean, all the info that is on the Financial Evaluation is from my previous job, so if they call to confirm all of the information I have there, and on the letter from my employer at that time, will no longer be accurate.

Do you know what I should do? Would this make them reject my application right off the back and I will have to start all over again?
At this point, I don´t even think they have opened my application yet (though I want to be optimist and think they will do it soon). Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Paola

You dont need to report your change of jobs to the CIC when PR application of spouse is in the process as there is no minimum financial requirements for spouse sponsorship...Good luck

Hi Paola,

If you're interested, you can join the January 2013 spreadsheet. It's in my signature. (Only two people can edit it. I'm the primary user with my wise master guiding me.)

CIC rarely calls employers. Usually the Option C and letter is enough. If you have a history of working (tax returns tell the story) I wouldn't worry. You are allowed to email them if you wish. The Visa Office's information is on CIC's website or we can help you find it. Personally, I wouldn't worry. It is NOT on the list of things CIC asks to be updated on (such as birth of a child).

Just so you know, several January users already have AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt) and a handful have sponsor approval already! I got AOR in 16 days! :)

Amikety

Does cic send a letter out to sponsor once they receive the application

Is that what AOR is thxs

Checked my tracking and my app was signed a week ago, not had any update aor yet?

Yes, AOR means they got the application. Nothing more, nothing less.

thxs do they send the letter to sponsor by opening the app package?

Or to the senders address on the package which was mine.

They send an email if possible. It will go to the sponsor. This is what mine looks like:

UCI: XXXXXXX
Application No.: F00XXXXXXX
Quote these numbers when corresponding with our office.

Thanks for your reply, Amikety!

An interesting thing just happened. As I was just reading your reply a few minutes ago, about how some of the people that submitted their application in January have already gotten AORs, I received an email from CIC confirming that they´ve received my application, and got my F00XXXXX number. What great news, and how nerve wracking at the same time! :) I didn´t think I would be hearing from them in a few more months.

The `status`doesn´t show anything on line yet though. I guess that means just what you said, that they are acknowledging the receipt, but may not have started to actually process it yet. Do you have any idea how long would it take now to get a response?

Thanks,
Paola

Ps. oh, and yes, I would like to join your spreadsheet. Should I fill in the information myself? how does it work?

Awesome! :)

I don't think you'll be added until you get sponsor approval. This isn't based on hard evidence, but my warped sense of logic and experience so far.

January applicants are getting Stage 1 approval 1-2 days after AOR so far! Times are posted at 55 days. We are 15-22 days. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

You can post your timeline in this thread, in the January 2013 Outland thread, or PM me once you reach 10 posts. 10 posts is the magic number to add an avatar and your timeline under your username. Only two of us have editing access to this spreadsheet, myself and the lady that setup it up for us.

Right now:
- Visa Office
- date of medicals (if you want to share)
- date application mailed
- date application arrived at CIC (it's in the AOR email if you aren't sure)
- date of AOR
- destination in Canada... or if you're in Canada, you can put that too. This is optional - just for fun.

Congrats again! :)

Oh my goodness, so I could potentially be getting more news from CIC within the next few days?! wow, that IS pretty awesome!! though I´m biting my nails :) so some January applicants have already got Stage 1 approval? is that what the 15-22 days mean?

You have no idea how much I appreciate your responses and support. This is quite the process one has to go through! emotionally and physically draining.

I would like to think that all these fast responses we are getting in January is a good sign that we will get news relatively soon (or at least not in the 12-18 month period). I think I forgot to mention that my husband is here in Canada with me. He arrived to Canada in September and is on a visitor visa, so the sponsorship application is from within Canada. His visa expires on March 17, 2013 and so we just applied for an extension of the visa last week. We submitted a copy of the official receipt of the sponsorship fees plus a letter from me confirming that I am supporting him financially while he is here, and that we are waiting for CIC to let us know about the sponsorship.

Do you think we have any chances his visa extension will get approved? gosh, I hope he doesn´t have to go back to Mexico while we wait for a response :(

Thank you! - I will wait to have my 'avatar' and will submit my info for the spreadsheet.

Paola

Also, since I noticed that the processing time for Stage 1 of the applications submitted inside Canada take a lot longer (6 months as opposed to 55 days for the outside of Canada) to process :( do you know of anyone in the January submissions inside of Canada have already gotten their Stage 1 approval? - I´m crossing my fingers!

Thanks!
Paola

Three applications from January have updated their timelines to Stage 1 approval 15-22 days from the date the application was signed for by CIC. There are others who are in there that haven't been back to update us yet. Probably busy with their lives!

Did you file an Inland application or Outland? Which visa office is the application going to?

Most of my experience is with visa exempt visitors (USA, UK, etc). It seems that if you're living together and have the PR application filed, CIC is more willing to extend his visa. However, it is possible he will be denied and asked to leave. At that point, he could apply for restoration of status to try to get visitor status back (or at least delay having to leave). The downside is, if he's denied with the restoration, it's usually followed with an order to leave.

Btw, he's completely welcome to come to my house and make tamales any time he wants :D

Here's the thing - you can be inside Canada and still apply to an Outside visa office. I need to know which visa office you applied to to better answer your questions. After it goes through CPC Missassauga, which office will it go to? Vegreville or Mexico City?
