Change of employer for a closed Work Permit Holder (LMIA Exempt) to a new employer

Dear All, I need some guidance on below situation. I am a closed work permit holder of employee A (LMIA Exempt), my work permit is still valid for another 1 year and a new employer B filed an LMIA (approved). Hence I am applying for a new closed work permit with the employer B. By any chance, if my new work permit request with employer B gets rejected by IRCC then shall I loose my WP status in Canada ? or shall I be still eligible to continue with my existing work permit with employer A ?

Second question, lets say if my extension of my existing work permit with employer A is in progress with IRCC and I file a new work permit with employer B in same time. The situation can be reversed also (new work permit in progress and filing my extension for existing work permit for safer side). What issues can happen in this situation ?

You would normally would only be approved for one of the work permits.

Thanks much for your response. That is very risky. If the processing is done in different times (possibly not valid in current situation as IRCC takes 140 days) then can I have two different WP ?

Normally not. IRCC usually doesn’t authorize two WPs especially for new arrivals. Perhaps after proof of working for one employer for a decent period of time a 2nd WP may be considered for a part-Time position but IRCC isn’t trying to approve people to work 7 days a week or 80+ hours a week.

Understood partly. Thx for your response. I have been working with current employer in Canada for an year and more. Extension is usual process to continue with same job whereas I filed another WP with LMIA with new employer to switch the job, not to perform 2 jobs or 80 hours per week etc. I understood from your response that one of the WP request will be rejected. If it rejects my WP extension then my current employer would be unhappy as I didn't inform them, wasted their money as I want to resign when I have my new WP with new employer for change of employer.

If you are applying for both at the same time the one processed last will be the valid WP.
