Q1: What is the difference between the Change of Address and the Address Notification on-line services?
A1: Address Notification: This service should be used by immigrants who have just arrived in Canada as permanent residents. If you are a new permanent resident and you notify CIC of your new Canadian address through the Address Notification service, you will automatically receive the Permanent Resident Card.
Note: If we do not receive your address within 180 days of the date of your admission to Canada, you will have to re-apply for a PR card and pay the applicable fee.
Change of Address: This service should be used by all other clients (listed in Question 2 below) to notify CIC of their new residential or mailing address.
