Hi
My PR is under process under SINP category, got the file number and waiting for biometrics. I got married this month. My concern is, do I need to add my wife's file to PR or just change the maritial status. It's said like the process may get delayed if we make any change or update in the application. Also my work permit will be expiring on November 2024. So if the process delays and final decision is not received before the workpermit expiry I.have to leave the country, right?
Please advise with the situation.
Thanks

Yes, it is required that you inform IRCC about your marriage. Unfortunately, this is not optional and is something that you must do according to current Canadian immigration rules. Your admissibility depends on your spouse’s admissibility as well.If you land as a single person when in fact you are married or have a common-law partner, you risk losing Canadian permanent resident status in the future, especially if you attempt to sponsor your spouse or common-law partner for Canadian Immigration. Not informing CIC is considered as misrepresentation and you will be banned to sponsor your partner in future.
