Change in employer on a temporary work permit

Hi Folks - I currently have a temporary work permit till end of the year. It is tied to an employer. Can I get an offer of employment from another potential employer and apply for a change in work permit? I believe till the time my WP expires, the new employer need not worry about my extention right?

Please let me know if there any online links about this facility/procedure on the cic website.

Of course you can.I did that.
I have work permit and waiting for PR in Buffalo.
You need to apply for the new LMO and after that for new work permit in Vegrevvile,Alberta.
New employer work permit waiting time is only 30 days.
Dont worry about that.

1. When you said you had to apply for an LMO, did you mean your new employer applied for an LMO? And why Alberta? Do you work in Alberta or just getting an LMO from Alberta is easier.

2. Can I change jobs before my new WP has arrived or do I need to wait till it comes?

3. Can you help me locate the process for it on the cic website?

No, your new employer must apply for an LMO, with the positive LMO you send your TWP application to CIC at Vegreville in Alberta

2. Can I change jobs before my new WP has arrived or do I need to wait till it comes?

No, you cannot start work without the TWP in your posession

1.Yes,my new employer applied for the new LMO.It is free and not cost anything.
2.I dont know about that.But it will be better if you applied two month before your current Work permit expire.In that case you should not worried about that.
3.I always apply for work permit in Vegreville Alberta.I dont know why,but my consultatnt say it is the fastest way.It will take only one month. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp
