Good morning People!

I hope you are all having a good day. I am currently in Canada on my 7th year running, while having studied and then worked here for the previous 7, I recently applied and received an 8month Visitor Permit valid to October 20.
I would like to know if I can apply to change my status to a Student for one year. I have sufficient funds to support myself and to pay the 20K required by a Designated Learning Institution.

cheers and thank you for your inputs

Are you sure you are here on a TRP and not a TRV? TRPs (Temporary Resident Permits) are for people who are otherwise inadmissible to Canada (typically due to a crime). TRVs are regular visitor visas. You've used "TRP" in your subject and the word "permit" in the post above. Are you sure this is what you have?

Scylla, thank you - That's a very good question and sometimes makes me confused as well. It's a document with my UCI that came in the mail stating I can be in Canada until October 20. It does not allow re-entry, but allows me to remain in Canada.

1/ It is neither a TRV or TRP it is a visitor record.
2. As a visitor you have to apply to an overseas office for a study permit.
