Hi guys, hope you are all doing great!

I have a silly question (maybe). I was thinking about moving during the next month, so my question would be how difficult it is to change your address during the process?? Do you think this will affect or delay even more the whole process?? (of course considering all the situation due to Covid)

If moving affects in any way my application, I would certainly consider to delay my moving until I have the passport in my hands =)

I sent all the paperwork in February and received my AOR in October.

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys and good luck!

If you already received your AOR and have an application number, changing your address is easy and can be done online. You can do it through ECAS if you search Address Change IRCC. You can also do it through a webform and it will take 5 business days to process.

As far as delays are concerned, are you going to be moving far enough that your local office will change? i.e to a different region or province? And your application hasn't gone to In Process yet correct? If you move before it goes in process and you change your address, it is likely that your application will be sent to your new local office when it goes in process. If you move after it is already sent to your local office, then I'm not sure how/when they transfer offices.
Either way, pre-COVID there were timelines specific to local offices i.e some were known to be slower than others. So if that still holds true now, then changes in local office may impact your timeline according to those accounts.

I changed my address from Oakville to Ottawa and I feel that it did delay my application a lot! Submitted my citizenship application July 2019 and till now (July 2021) I haven’t been invited to the exam!

Some address changes do not trigger a file transfer.

Here are the guidelines on how address change and file transfer works.
