I have some close family friends who want to visit Canada for about 2 weeks, and then they plan to return to Pakistan. They have always lived in Pakistan, however the male head in the family is now retired, and he fears CIC might reject their application because they might think they're going to Canada for job finding. They have no ties to any country except Pakistan, but they don't know how to show that.

3 of them are applying for visas: Retired dad, his wife and youngest unmarried daughter who is currently studying in Pakistan. They have another daughter and son too who are both married, but they are not applying for visas.

What are the chances their visit visa applications might get rejected ?

Can he show at least CA$10000 in liquid funds? If he has double that, so much the better. Does he have other assets (land, etc) to show?
Does he have any travel history to countries requiring visas? Do the rest of the family?
Is the wife working?

If the answers are mostly nos, the chances of rejection are greater.

Well they do have property in Pakistan that they can show proof of. The wife doesn't work. Their retirement pension and son supports them financially. They don't have any recent traveling history too, and the wife doesn't work as well.

How can their visa application be made stronger ?

IMO, their individual and collective chances of approval are low.

I also recommend that the youngest unmarried daughter does not apply. Her chances of refusal are high. Her parents could show that they must return to Pakistan because of her.

What is the purpose of their visit?
Would the son pay for their itinerary + airfare? Or their friends in Canada?

They simply want to visit Canada has they have some relatives there. The dad would pay for all expenses himself I would imagine.

Why would you say that refusal chances for the girl are high ?

As the dad is financially dependent on the son, he would need to prove that he (the dad) has the financial means to pay for the visit (detailed day-by-day itinerary + airfare).

The visa officer may perhaps not be inclined to accept that they *simply want to visit Canada*. They could have applied to meet these Canadian relatives when the dad was still employed.... which they did not do, so then the question would be 'Why now after the dad has retired?'.

Also, the visa officer is likely to question why they want to visit Canada first and why have they not traveled to some other countries before this. BTW UAE/Dubai, KSA, Singapore, Thailand, etc will not help for travel history.

She is young + a student + not employed + no finances of her own + as her dad is dependent on the son/her brother, she is also dependent on the brother for her finances + no previous travel history + she does not have any family dependents (married siblings are not family ties) = An almost guaranteed case of a TRV refusal.

Even her parents have very low chances of TRV approvals
