Hi,

If the principal applicant (PA) of spousal sponsorship in visiting spouse in Canada, is there a chance that custom officer reject to enter Canada, as PA's PR application is under processing.

Note: PA has valid return ticket to the country of residence and will be visiting Canada for not more than 2 months.

There is always a risk of refusal. However, having a return ticket and showing that you are following the rules does help.

There is always that chance that they will not admit your wife , no one person can guarantee you that she will get into Canada . I believe she is visa exempt so let hope it won't be a problem. My husband also arrives Friday . So fingers crossed for both of us.

Thanks for the replies. She is not from visa exempted country but has valid visitor visa that she received before our marriage.

The chances improve if the sponsorship part of the application is completed.

She must carry all proof that she has submitted PR application. Fee receipt, SA approval, Medicals, Marriage certificate, ur PR copy.

Don't worry she will get through just fine.

It is not easy to get visitor visa during PR processing.
I can't see the chance of her being rejected to enter Canada with visitor visa. She just needs to answer the questions honestly when being asked by customs officer. But the customs officer usually just asks what purpose for coming to Canada and where to stay and how long to stay. You don't need to mention about PR if you are not asked about it.

Good luck

I had two work permits and in between I applied for PR. I left Canada after my last work permit expired and came back as a visitor a week later (I'm German and visa-exempt).

I was prepared: Sponsorship approval, health card, proof that I stopped working, proof of funds.

I didn't have a return ticket and I was prepared to be questioned quite a bit.

When I arrived all that happened was: "Welcome back" and a 6 month stamp. No questions asked. He changed my customs declaration card from visitor to resident (he still considered me a resident) and then I was done.

Very easy :D

I hope you get lucky, too

Won't face any problem with valid visitor visa and all immigration papers handy, specially having some proofs of return to home country Good luck!
