Dear Friends,
My PR is expiring in July 2016.
Your
card is expiring. You keep status until it's given up or taken from you.
Due to some intense family issues, I did not live in Canada for the past 5 years. If go to Canada now, what are my chances of getting my PR renewed?
If it was urgent, necessary, and beyond your control, then you might be able to make a H&C case. Without that case, the odds of renewing your PR card is nearly zero.
You do have the option of flying to Canada before your card expires. You may get reported, you may not. If questioned, you can make your H&C case. If the officer rejects it, there's a hearing, and you can make a H&C case. Without a good case, you would likely lose your PR.
You might get lucky. The officer might not notice (or care) that you have too few days, and just let you in. If he does, then you can stay in Canada for two years before applying for a PR card. You get to keep your status, as you only lose the status if you renounce it or it's taken from you (after a hearing).
I am very scared and confused. Please help me to get some picture.
Also, this time if I go to Canada, I am planning to live there permanently
Thanks
If that's the case, then the most likely chance of success is if you get out to Canada as soon as you can, and hope the officer doesn't say anything. If he does, then either be prepared to give him a
very good explanation how it was an emergency that forced you to leave, that it was
outside your control, and how it will
never happen again, or be prepared to lose it.
If he doesn't report you, then
stay in Canada for two years without leaving at all, for any reason, then renew your PR card only
after those two years are over. Then, and only then, are you safe from losing PR status.
You've already gambled with your Permanent Residency. If you wait until after your card expires, the odds get worse.
