Hello,
I'm working in Canada as a room attendant in a hotel, I have an open work permit that expires on April 2015. My employer won't sponsor my PR application.
I have University degrees and valid NOC work experience in my native country to apply for FSW program. I calculate that I have around 70 points out of the 67 required to pass the FSW. I then read about several PhD students were being systematically rejected for PR for dubious reasons.
Is it worthwhile applying as FSW? I think that most likely I would get rejected since I don't have a skilled job, and therefore CIC could easily give me also a dubious reason to reject my application (like it's happening to some PhD students), then if I try to file for PR in the future, my name would already have a rejected application.
Should I rather study a 1 year course and apply for PR as graduate student in Alberta's Nomination Program? I heard that Provincial Nomination can be easier to achieve than the Federal program. If I get a university course and get funding through a professor's grant, would I be inadmissible to file for PR afterwards?
What are my chances to get PR? Are there any other factors or options I can consider?
Please help, I feel desperate at this point.
Thanks a lot!
