Chances at federal skilled workers program and consequences for failing at it

I’m planning to apply to Canada’s federal skilled workers program, though it seems that my chances are not the best. I’m considering applying under one of these two eligible occupations:

1. Inspectors in public and environmental health and occupational health and safety: I have a MSc in Environment and several years of experience in conservation projects and environmental planning but when I checked the official description of this category, my experience seems to be somehow related but it is not an exact match.

2. Land surveyors: I have a year of experience working in land purchases (which is related to this occupation) but I do not have a related degree on this discipline.

What might be my chances at being accepted at Canada's immigration program?

At the application form, it says that if you misrepresent yourself then: “the circumstances of your refusal will be entered into Canada's global immigration database”. I'm not going to misrepresent myself, but I'm worried that if I apply to this immigration program and I fail, my case would be filed in this global immigration database, then when I renew my US B1/B2 non immigrant visa, my name will come up as someone looking forward to immigrate and my visa will be refused. Is this right?

I would not like to risk my clean file status at the global immigration database for an unrealistic shot at the Canadian program.

Thanks a lot!
