Chance of Obtaining Visitor Visa for a Single Guy

Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen and have been living/working in Canada for 15 years. I am planning to invite my brother here for only two weeks (we haven't seen each other for 10 years). He is single, on Iranian passport but works and lives in Turkey. His work visa in Turkey expires in July 2017 (They issue visas annually). He has never applied for any type of visa in Canada and has no intention of staying here. I also need to mention that my parents along with my sister and her family are also in Canada and they are permanent residents.

I heard from different people that single guys almost have no chance to get a visitor visa. I'd like him to come here for a visit but on the other hand, I don't want him to get rejected. Do you have any suggestion to make his case strong enough to obtain the visitor visa?

Thanks for all your help!

hi,
As ur whole family is PR of canada so it looks quite difficult for him to obtain visitor visa. Because according to visa officer`s mentality he can think that he might not return cos of his strong ties to canada. He shud show his strong ties to India:

1 Regular and permanent job position with proof of salary slips, ITRs,joining letter etc.
2 any property on his name in India etc

all the best

Unfortunately, he doesn't own a property in Turkey. He has been living there for the last 10 years, studied at university and then got a job. His pay slips, insurance and the letter from his company, is all he can show. I also got him a plane ticket for two weeks that shows he intends to go back. You wouldn't even think having family members in Canada would actually have a negative impact on your application.

Does it mean he has less than %50 chance of getting a TRV?

It depends, and yes, having family in Canada does make it harder because they think he may overstay because he has family in Canada. Show as many ties to his home country as possible.

It's never a good idea to buy plane tickets before getting a visa.

Your brother must demonstrate his strong ties to both Turkey (country of residence) and Iran (home country). This could be:
1. Does he own property in Iran?

2. Does he rent a home in Turkey? If yes, he can include a rent agreement + 2-3 months' rent receipts

3. Does he have previous travel history i.e. has he visited the US/ UK/ Schengen countries, etc?

4. Is it possible for his employer to issue a letter that they will renew his employment visa/work contract in July 2017?

5. Can he include some reason (with evidence) to prove he must return to Turkey by a specific date? Maybe a work or personal commitment.

6. Have your parents/sister met him in the last 10 years (maybe in Turkey or Iran)?
