Hello guys,

I am very anxious about the application process. Though i'd love your prediction :D Here is our timeline, some "mistake" we have done..

Im 25, Vietnamese. fist time marriage. I speak well English, has aboard bachelor and working experience.
My hubby is Canadian citizen. 29. First time marriage.
We communicate in English mainly. Also sometimes in French. Hes from Quebec.

-He went to Vietnam in 2009, and we met 2010, May
-He proposed me on Oct.2010 ( Is it too quick? is it a "weakeness" in our application)
-Marriage certificate on Jan.2011
-Wedding May.2011 ( his mother and father didnt participate --> our weakness in application)- reasons that i wrote in the application: didnt have money as well as busy at works. His mother is a teacher, hes father is real estate manager.
-Since we wanted to stay in Vietnam for sometimes, we didnt do the application right away. --> our weakmess ??
-BUT, on December 2011, he decided to go to Canada to see his family. We started to prepare application.
-Feb.10th.2012, CIC received our application
-on 15th March,2012 he went back to Vietnam to see me. We missed each other too much. He filled the form that he will come back to Canada when i got the visa.
-on 27th May, we got letter from CIC, stated that they received and process our application.

Even we are together now in Vietnam, im still anxious and both of us doesnt like to wait. (none of us want). He doesnt have much things to do in Vietnam, and just stay here because of me. I dont want him hang around and have no future.
So in this August, he will go back to Canada for teaching bachelor.

I have a decent job, a sales manager for Swedish company in Vietnam. He doesnt have a job but doesnt receive money from Quebec Province. He is receiving grant for his studying. about $700 per month. So far, he has cleared all his dept ($2000 for plan tickets in 2011)

For your experience, and the weaknesses in our application - do you think that we will have to go through interview? And i have a feeling that application through singapore office have higher chance of interviews..

Looking forward to your prediction :)

Linh

I read a stat somewhere that says a very high percentage cases processed in Singapore would require an interview. You two have comparable education, you're not totally dependent on his support, so if I were an Immigration officer, I would look at your application more favorable than others. However, they do work according to procedures from CIC and the Minister of Immigration now has more power to say what he wants so it's hard to say. Just keep doing what you have to do, keep a record of all communications (mail, letter, phone,...) just in case, talk to each other everyday, and relax, let the sponsorship run its course. It will work out.
My 2 cents.

The only issue I could see is his ability to qualify as a sponsor since he will have no job, will be living on a student budget. I think part of passing for a sponsor is the ablity to support the person you are sponsoring.

Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about short timelines. Many people met, fall in love and marry in a short period of time. Other couples take longer but it doesn't mean that CIC will have an issue with it.

I would also recommend you continue to document your relationship if CIC comes back and asks for more proof. The fact that he came back to Vietnam to be with you will be a positive however him not having a job or income could complicate things.

My application as just passed the approval process in CPC Mississauga (I THINK) so now its a mater of time waiting for it to clear Singapore.

I too have thought about going back to Vietnam to be with my wife but we both thought that it is best if I stay in Canada working a full time job with the Federal Government so that our case is strong.
